The hypnotist who’s helps the stars lose weight

What do Lily Allen, Sophie Dahl, Sarah Ferguson and Geri Haliwell have in common? They’ve all used hypnotist Susan Hepburn to help them lose weight. It might cost them £400 an hour to see her but they’ve all benefited from Susan’s techniques

It certainly seems to work, Lilly dropped two dress sizes very quickly and on Susan Hepburn’s site there’s a story of a client who lost four stones in six months. The only thing I couldn’t find on the site were any prices!

Gastric band by hypnosis update

Our recent update on the success of hypnotherapy treatments which led people to believe they have had gastric band surgery is one of the most popular stories on the Y’All Happy? site.

News stories abound about the success of the virtual surgery in which the patients are hypnotised to believe and behave as if they’ve had the surgery. The story HERE from the US is typical.

However there’s a warning HERE that this type of therapy relies on the placebo effect. People pay a lot of money for this hypnotherapy, they want to make it work, they’ll act in ways that make it work, so it’s money well spent and so they don’t feel stupid when it doesn’t work. However the placebo effect is usually temporary.

If you want to eat less pick the skinny waiter

People on diets order less food for a slim waiter or waitress than they do from a larger one! That’s the surprising finding from a team of university researchers in North America.

The survey had some complex results on dieters vs non dieters but in short

  • People on a diet ordered more when their waiter was overweight
  • People who were not on a diet didn’t order as much when they were served by a larger waiter
  • People not on a diet got stuck in when they were served by a slim waiter

Some of us have a daily diet of 46 teaspoons of sugar a day

A concerning number of adults have a daily diet which includes the equivalent of taking 46 teaspoonfuls of sugar!

The problem is that many of us don’t know the hidden sugar count in everyday foods. For example there could be as much as 6 teaspoons of sugar in your breakfast cereal. 8 in a ready meal and almost 9 in a can of soft drink.

The long term health problems don’t bear thinking about; it just proves the medial adage ‘always read the label’.
