The hypnotist who’s helps the stars lose weight

What do Lily Allen, Sophie Dahl, Sarah Ferguson and Geri Haliwell have in common? They’ve all used hypnotist Susan Hepburn to help them lose weight. It might cost them £400 an hour to see her but they’ve all benefited from Susan’s techniques

It certainly seems to work, Lilly dropped two dress sizes very quickly and on Susan Hepburn’s site there’s a story of a client who lost four stones in six months. The only thing I couldn’t find on the site were any prices!

If you want to eat less pick the skinny waiter

People on diets order less food for a slim waiter or waitress than they do from a larger one! That’s the surprising finding from a team of university researchers in North America.

The survey had some complex results on dieters vs non dieters but in short

  • People on a diet ordered more when their waiter was overweight
  • People who were not on a diet didn’t order as much when they were served by a larger waiter
  • People not on a diet got stuck in when they were served by a slim waiter

Women have an inbuilt fear of being fat – men don’t

American researchers have found out that women have an instinctive reaction to body fat that men just don’t have. Using MRI scanners neuroscientist Mark Allen discovered that when women see a stranger who is overweight it triggers a reaction in the part of their brain which deals with identity.

However when men see the same thing there is no reaction in their brains. The team behind the study think that the media bombardment of stick thin models and pressure to conform to ‘an ideal’ might be causing the women to have this reaction.
